Dear Families,
Wow!
Wow! Wow! Lindbergh has been a busy place and there are
no signs of slowing down! Red Wheel sales are going strong! Keep selling that
yummy food to support our PTA! There are several school events coming up and
they are listed below.
Math is challenging our brains! We have
been upping our division skills by using bigger numbers. Knowing our
multiplication facts is a must to continue moving forward in math. Sit down
with your child and quiz them on their basic multiplication facts, such as 9 x
7, or 4 x 6. If it takes longer than 5 seconds to answer the problem, then your
child needs more practice! Please take a few minutes each evening to practice
multiplication facts. Doing so will greatly improve your childs efficiency when
solving these harder division problems.
If you would like to help your child
improve his/her math skills at home, there are several other, simple, ways to
do that! Create 4-digit subtraction
problems and help your child solve them, practice 2 digit by 2 digit
multiplication problems by writing problems out for your child, practice
division problems with your child; 81/9, or 36/4, for example.
Please continue to read with your
child. Remember that reading WITH your
child is encouraged. Reading at home with a grown-up will improve both fluency
and comprehension. I cannot express to you how important it is
for you to read WITH your child each evening. Students need to be held
accountable for reading the words correctly, re-reading when they make a
mistake, and discussing their reading. These are the only ways to improve
reading! Please listen to them read, help them correct mistakes and/or tell
them unknown words, and talk to them about the book. They love to share their
thinking! This will make signing the weekly reading log easy too, because you
know your child really read what they wrote on the log! Thank you for helping your child with the extra
support!
2nd quarter will get tough!
Please sit down with your child each evening and work through the homework
together. Homework is an opportunity for the kids to get some one-on-one help
with their daily work. Homework always reinforces skills being taught and
practiced at school.

school on Monday, November 9. Check out
