Wow! What a great week!

Thank you so much for attending your child's conference! It was great to visit with you about the growth your child is making! I always enjoy getting to brag about our class and I'm sure you enjoy hearing all of the wonderful things your child is doing at Lindbergh each day!
Again, thank you for supporting your child each day. They appreciate it more than you know! :)

It's time for Midterm Reports!

September 17, 2010

Dear families,

The 1st Quarter Midterm Report is being sent home today. You will not find the normal Friday folder form to sign and return. The midterm report has all the academic information you need. ☺

You will see your child's first set of grades for the first half of the 1st Quarter. Mid-term Reports are filled out so that you can see where your child is currently performing with specific objectives for each content area, and an overall grade is provided as well. There are still another 4 weeks left of 1st Quarter and plenty of time for improvement in all areas!

A specific objective that is not marked indicates that we have not covered it yet. Areas of concern are checked in the BB (Below Basic) column. If an objective is checked within the Basic column, it indicates that your child is working towards understanding and mastering the skill, but is inconsistent with the skill. Proficient and Advanced is the ultimate goal for all students.

Please continue to help your child with homework and chat with him/her about school. I have loved every minute of getting to know your child! We have an awesome class this year! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Please sign and return the Midterm Report by Monday.
Thank you for supporting your child! ☺

Here Comes Fall...

Hello, Families!
It is hard to believe that you have 3 weeks of fourth grade under your belt already! As you have felt, 4th grade is fast paced and requires your student to stay on top of his/her game! Not only are we focusing on content, but we are also striving to become a kind, responsible, honest community. This doesn't happen naturally--it takes some practice. There is a lot happening in Room 27! Ask your child what's happening at school, if they respond with, "Nothing," keep asking!
This week we will continue to learn strategies to improve our ability to add and subtract money. We will also begin to review multiplication. Please start reviewing the multiplication facts at home, as well.
The scientists in our room will continue to observe and research Green Anoles. We will focus on predators, prey, food chains and food webs. I have added a website that will help students practice creating food chains. There are several games for math and science on the site--check it out!
Continue to read at home. Ask your child about their reading, or better yet, sit down and listen to them read outloud. The kids love to chat about their reading and thinking!
We are going to polish our sentence writing skills this week. Please look at homework and be sure students have written their answers in complete sentences.
Thanks for checking in on our website! Pictures coming soon!

We're Rolling!

Thank you so much for taking the time to sit down with your child and help him/her with homework. The first week of homework is behind us and I am pleased with the results! We are starting content this week and will take our first district benchmark test. Continue to look for the homework each night, except for Fridays, and help your child do the best he/she can. I'm looking forward to working with each of you to help your child grow this year!
Please take some time to play on the links provided to the right. The math sites are an excellent way for kids to improve their skills while having fun.
Check back next week for new information! :)
